OK, another quick one for you SWFC fans out there. If you were already subscribed to my calendar for the 2011/2012 season, you need to do absolutely nothing 😀
We’ve made it to stop one on our way to the Premiership hopefully and arrived for a new season in the Championship.
Kicking off locally(ish) with a game against Derby County, I’ve updated my shared calendar again this season. Hosted on google calendars and available to you and your Android/Nokia/iPhone/pc/mac whatever device nice and simply and without cost. Woohoo! Again, if you were already subscribed to this calendar for the 2011/2012 season, you need to do absolutely nothing 😀
This link will take your calendar program to fully list the fixtures and location of games, complete with times and location info, straight on to your device. The map and location functionality will also help if you are a super travelling fan for finding the ground allowing you a single click to load maps. 😉
If you have an iphone you can go to Start > Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add Subscribed Calendar and type in bit.ly/swfcmobcal. Job done.
For anything else you can probably just click the link http://bit.ly/2011swfc
Or alternatively, point your barcode scanner at
and if that doesnt do it for your handset, the full iCal link is: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/maj88mooe68j282qbr2au0kncc%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics
Up the Owls!
So, its been snowing. Not normal snow, like an hour here and there, small issues and off you go. It’s actually been snowing pretty much 80% of the time for 2 days. Its like being on holiday (of the winter variety). The side road of the main road near looked like this after day 1.
The roads are shut and people are actually walking to the local shops instead of taking the car! WOW! There is suddenly a great togetherness too, that makes me love living here even more. I walked about 10 mins up to the shop, kids & sledge in tow, and past about 15 people on the way. Every single person I passed said hello, commented on the snow, laughed about the kids being dragged in the pure luxury of the sledge or had some other friendly banter.
The local market though was devoid of any fresh baked goods (which wasn’t a surprise) and had no milk or other essentials. A walk down to Tescos was more effective as they had just had a delivery, but people were already starting to bustle to get their 20npints of milk. PANIC BUY!!
There is plenty of news coverage about the winter weather but here’s a few pics of my productive use of time, my first ever…. igloo/snow house. Comact and bijou and complete with 3 rooms. 2 to the side under all that snow complete with beers and a seat at the back. Result.
Years ago, there was a blog here that I started on mostly football (with a dash of ranting and some interesting product chat). Times were good back then and so was the football. Now, it’s mostly 3rd tier action and right now this is the state of play for my beloved Sheffield Wednesday.
And with that out the way, and not 1 mention of the takeover (ahh bollocks I just did) I’m looking to add some more here.
I have a good presence online and have met some really great bloggers and social media contacts that’s got me wanting to add more to who I am, or really, what I’m thinking about. I’ve a great interest in Mobiles/Smartphones working with O2/Telefonica developer communities and the AllAboutSymbian.com site, and have been somewhat a known Nokia fan for a good while now. There’ll be more on that throughout this blog, in the ‘Mobile’ category.
I also run a forum with some other friends for Volkswagon/Audi group owners and fans over at VAGoc
which, if I don’t say so myself, is a quality forum full of the kind of car banter you’d expect, tuning knowledge you want to read, and offers you don’t get elsewhere. If you have that sort of inclination… playing with your VAG car, then head on over and say hi.
Finally, as you see from the screenshot, I love a bit of music so say hi to Leoyde on last.fm. That’ll be me.
Most of all though, I want to hear about your opinions on whats what… so leave a shout and a blog link and I’ll follow back 🙂
